Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being—and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy. Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother’s restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.
However, Signa’s best chance of uncovering the murderer is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he’s made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful—and more irresistible—than she ever dared imagine.
Review
Signa an orphan with rich inheritance. her parents died when she was a child. after then she's been living with her "guardians" who were interested in guarding her inheritance except her grandmother but tada she dies too. infact everyone she lives with. nobody wants to talk to her because they think she's witch who kills. and now she also thinks there's something wrong with her because she can see every time the one who takes their soul. The Death. The Reaper.
All she wants is a companion. All she wants is to love and to be loved. She wants to have high tea, reputation, family to grow old with but its only possible if they can live.
she's nineteen. she's about to inherit her will in Christmas. will she be able to live her simple dream that everyone lives or she'll be forever known as an alone witch.
I'm impressed with signa. she's scarred , heartbroken , helpless also persistent. she's not succumbed to her situation. she fights for her dream , to love. she can see spirits ,The death and don't know what to do with it. she doesn't want to see spirits, wants to fight t e death to leave her alone. she's molding herself to be a lady defined by society not realizing she's not average she's much more above everyone else.
I love it when female character is strong and being her own hero of her life. cause that's we all are. we don't have to settle for less and play victim. we all are hero of our life, The main character who's badass, magnificent. we are our own savior. we ALL are amazing.
Adalyn has done wonderful job describing each character's emotion journey and the scenes. It was enchanting , mysterious and magical.
Final verdict
Got Mystery ,action, romance ,Thriller ,banter fun. All in All good.
