Theo Silva. Rowdy bull rider. Notorious ladies’ man. Scorching hot trouble wrapped up in a drool-worthy package.

And he’s looking at me like I might be his next meal.

But I’m almost free of my toxic marriage and have sworn off men entirely. So all I see when I look back is temptation served up with a heaping side of heartbreak.

The man is hard to trust—and even harder to resist.

Make that impossible. Because Theo is persistent. And no matter how hard I try to freeze him out, he melts my icy exterior and pulls apart all my defenses.

Over a drink in a small town bar, I blurt out my deepest, darkest secrets. Then I spend the singular hottest night of my life with him.

He worships my body. He makes me blush. I come alive beneath his hands.

Then I tell him to forget it ever happened. I want simple, and with him it all feels complicated.

It was supposed to be a one-time thing.

A secret.

But that little plus sign is going to make this secret impossible to keep.

  • Winter Hamilton: A single mother who is struggling to make ends meet. She is kind, intelligent, and determined to provide a good life for her daughter. She is also a bit of a closed-off person, having been hurt in the past.

  • Theo Gallagher: A bull rider who is in town for a competition. He is charming, handsome, and talented, but he is also reckless and impulsive. He has a dark past that he is trying to outrun.

He doesn’t treat me like a child or placate me. He doesn’t play stupid, passive-aggressive mind games or gaslight me into agreeing with him

  • Reckless by Elsie Silver is the fourth book in the Chestnut Springs series. The story follows Winter Hamilton, a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet. She meets Theo Gallagher, a bull rider who is in town for a competition.

  • Winter and Theo are initially at odds, but they quickly develop a strong connection. Theo is a charming but reckless man, while Winter is a kind and intelligent woman. Their relationship is full of humor, heat, and heart.

“What’s happening is Miss Independent met the treat-her-like-a-princess guy, and she’s freaking out.”

  • The supporting characters are also well-developed and add to the story. Winter's daughter, Vivi, is a sweet and adorable girl who brings out the best in both Winter and Theo. Winter's friends are a group of strong and independent women who offer her support. Theo's family is a close-knit group of ranchers who are fiercely protective of him.

  • The writing is sharp and witty, and the pacing is perfect. The story is full of steamy scenes, but it also has a lot of heart. Reckless is a feel-good romance novel that will leave you smiling.

" I realized I’d never get over you. Time, distance, none of it mattered. I knew there would be no one like you for me. I was so sure of it. I could feel it in my bones. I still do.”

  • Overall, I really enjoyed Reckless. It's a well-written romance novel with great characters and a heartwarming story.
