Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister’s wedding. Especially since her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows—including her ex and his fiancée—will be there and eager to meet him.

She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic and aid in her deception. New York to Spain is no short flight and her raucous family won’t be easy to fool.

Enter Aaron Blackford—her tall, handsome, condescending colleague—who surprisingly offers to step in. She’d rather refuse; never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling, and insufferable man.

But Catalina is desperate, and as the wedding draws nearer, Aaron looks like her best option. And she begins to realize he might not be as terrible in the real world as he is at the office.

Review
  • Catalina Martín. She has four weeks to find a fake boyfriend to attend her sisters wedding with her back home in Spain. It's been describe perfectly without making character's negative. It's shown what those judgy- whispers can do to one's mental health. It could be from enemies or well wishers. People will start making your life appear like hell if you make one mistake. It's easy to forget mistakes, but try making others around you forget. Impossible. Moving to the United States felt like the only way out for her. That's exactly what she did.

  • Aaron Blackford. Aaron didn’t do nonsense. He mentioned facts and revealed provable truths.

  • Catalina- Aarin : We condemned our differences. At some point in the past, I would have thrown darts at a poster of his face. And I was pretty sure he would have done the same because I wasn’t the only one driving along Hate Boulevard.

or that's what she thought. Not having been able to express and having same unexpreesive father and losing mother at young age, aron couldn't digest Lina's joyous welcoming nature at first and also he couldn't stop himself attracting towards her for the same reason .

" By the time I knew I didn’t want to push you away anymore, that I couldn’t do it, it was too late. So, I took whatever you had for me even if that was hatred, antagonism, your obvious dislike, anything if that gave me a few minutes with you every day. If that put me on your mind, even for a little while.”

  • Specially when she was not ready to fall in love when her last relation was disastrous .

“How is it possible that it feels like you are breaking my heart, and I haven’t even had you yet?”

  • This book is defiantly overhyped. but should be read once defiantly. It's a slow-burn. Takes you through how they build their relation and how Lina overcomes her fear. Judgmental whispers. After all that led her to move her whole life to US. After enemyzoning himself with her, He finally take step to build something beautiful.

  • The writing was simple and flawless. It was written in the first person (which is always my preference while reading romance) from Lina's point of view, and it was full with banter, squabbling, and hilarity that had me gasping and grinning like a fool.

Final Verdict

Got Drama, Banter, Fight, Love , Wedding, Office-romance, personal battle, Enemy to Lover, Small Town . All in All Totally One time read.
