She can never be his...but he's taking her anyway.
Stoic, broody, and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: 1) Protect his clients at all costs 2) Do not become emotionally involved. Ever.
He has never once been tempted to break those rules…until her.
Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak that matches his own and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She’s nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed.
Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defenses until he’s faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her. Take her.
Because she’s his.
His princess.
His forbidden fruit.
His every depraved fantasy.
***
Regal, strong-willed, and bound by the chains of duty, Princess Bridget dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses.
But when her brother abdicates, she’s suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted.
And as she navigates the intricacies—and treacheries—of her new role, she must also hide her desire for a man she can’t have.
Her bodyguard.
Her protector.
Her ultimate ruin.
Unexpected and forbidden, theirs is a love that could destroy a kingdom…and doom them both.
Twisted Games is a slow to medium burn contemporary royal bodyguard romance. It’s book two of the Twisted series but can be read as a standalone.
Warning: This book contains a possessive alpha hero, explicit sexual content, and profanity.
Review
Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess who she wish anything but was. She was finding it difficult to handle the patriotic scrutiny. She was residing in NYC in order to represent her monarchy while balancing her aspirations and independence. up till Grandfather called and everything changed. The thing she wanted most in the world is in danger. Freedom.
I adored how energetic she was, how kind she was, how she volunteered at Wags & Whiskers, a local pet rescue shelter-how she volunteered at not for PR but since she enjoyed it and how adoring she was.
In my five years as a bodyguard, I’d never once crossed my professional boundaries.
And I wasn’t about to start now.
Rhys Larsen- piercing, mysterious, and dark. Rhys had the kind of eyes that peeled back layers of complex lies to reveal the awful realities hiding within, seeing right into a person's core. Raw. Masculine. Powerful. Possessive. Alpha
Rhys got attracted to her the first time he saw her. He wanted to be with her but also not because he had a rule to not to be with his clients and Bridget had a rule that queen can't anyone be with who's not from royal lineage.
Even when you’re not there, you’re everywhere. In my head, in my lungs,
in my fucking soul.
Rhys and Bridget's chemistry can be defined as a push and pull game. she had never bodyguard like a Rhys. she was just another client to him, but unfortunately for him that she didn't turn out to be spoiled brat that Rhys always had to dealt with. Bridget's kind and caring personality was warming his cold heart
It was…strange. The darkness had been a protective shield, and without it, I felt stripped bare. Defenseless, which was not something I ever wanted to feel. But in moments like this, when it was just me and Bridget, I didn’t need defenses. She’d broken through all of them, anyway.
with just enough fire shining through her cool facade to make me want to strip every layer off her until she was bared to me and me alone
This story is not only about this two characters. we get to see how Bridget has to prepare for a role that she thought never in a million years she'd have to. Queen in patriarch society and falling in love with a bodyguard which was a big no for a queen and also couldn't escape and hand this to other members from the chambers for then to make situation worse for women and poor people.
While Bridget has to fight chambers to be in love , Rhys has to fight himself to allow himself to fall in love.
Someone who saw all my scars and ugliness and still found me worthy, and somehow, someway, she’d filled the cracks in a soul I never thought would be whole again.
I didn’t want to be numb. I wanted to feel every goddamn thing with her.
The chemistry was hot and steamy. They both complemented each other and worked like a team against the world. It's so good to see the male character being macho yet acknowledging trauma he's going through and Bridget being her own hero whenever she needed to be. She was thrown into the sea with no experience and she didn't drown , SHE SWAME.
This was alright book. Couldn't really remember much about this book after a while and definitely not feeling like rereading.
Final Verdict
Got Drama, Banter, Fight, Love , Possessive, Monarch , patriotism . All in All quick read.
