Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.

• Vannesa - alcoholic mother, BAD sister, and cute younger brother ends up living with nice foster parents who loved her like her own unlike her real mother who never took stand for her till date.

• Aiden same troubled parents but great grandparents.

• Vannesa is the most practical character I've ever seen. Her mantra in life "want it get it". so she took huge student loan which will take more than 10 years yo pay even if she leaves meagerly. so she works hard and take odds job not only to survive and live debt free(btw don't tell anyone it's a secret.) she realized she wants to be her own boss when she worked at McD for a day. not her cup of tea. definitely. she doesn't throw pity party she gets the work done. she's the most loyal & caring person but also know when to say NO. yes bitch. so now when she's saved up enough for a year to quit the job and pursue her side business as a main one how's she going to say I want to quit to a boss whom on she might have a tiny little crush cause DAMN he's huge and hot.

“I would have done just about anything for you back then, even when you got on my nerves. I might have just waited until the last minute to push you out of oncoming traffic, but I’d still push you out of the way.”

• Aiden Graves is the formidable top defensive player in the National Football Organization. His single-minded focus on the sport has made him the best. He eats, lives and breathes football, paying little mind to anything or anyone else. big on private life that private that he's an assistant to play mediator between him and his agent. he's stubborn extremally stubborn . that's good in career but when you're clearly "not fine" and you'll say fine. will he let go? Nope. he'll get to the bottom of problem & will make you say why are you made & solve it. that's who Aiden is. In personal or professional life of there's a problem he'll solve it. he doesn't say what you want to hear but what you need to. He doesn't talk a lot like almost never . he doesn't have any close relationship and now when she's trying to quit he doesn't know what will make her stay.

• This is a slow burn book. zapata has done clever job in building the relationship. from this

"I just wanted you to see me as a person instead of just that person you don't ever have to tell 'thank you' to. So for you to tell me you can try to be my friend, it's so forced."
